Playground games: Did anyone ever play "colored eggs"? | |
This game might have had other names, but everyone was a family and each player was a color. Someone played the big bad wolf and would knock on the door and call out a color. That person would run and get chased by the wolf and try to make it home w/out getting caught...
There was also a "family color" where everyone would run.
Cool. I like hearing about different variations of this game.

1HAHA! YES!
We played Colored Eggs too!
The beginning went "Knock Knock." ... "Who's there?" ... "Big Bad Wolf" ... "What do you want?" .... "Colored eggs" ... "What color?" ... and then he'd start guessing. We had the family color too.
I feel wierd - like you must have lived in my neighborhood.
The twist on ours (or - the only thing you didn't mention) was that the main time we played this game was when there was snow. We'd go to someone's house (usually mine) who had a big backyard. Then we'd scoot around and make paths all over the place in the snow and those were the only places you were allowed to run. Seems like some years we couldn't wait and we'd try to make the paths in the fall leaves too.
Then whoever the wolf caught was the new wolf.
Was this regional? I lived in a suburb of DC. Where did others who played this live?
